Bridget's Braces

Bridget had braces put on her teeth today! She went to Draper Orthodontics with Mommy in the morning. She chose the purple color (look closely).

Here's her account of how it went:

Okay, my dad interrupted my relaxation, so this is going to be short. Overall, it was horrible. At one point, they put disgusting liquid in my mouth, and the braces didn't hurt at first, but they hurt later. Also, there was practice for music in the morning that you have to go to if you are playing the bass xylophone, which I am, and I missed it so now I have to play the recorder instead, which plays bad because I have to get used to playing it with braces. Okay, I hope you enjoyed wasting my time. Good riddance.

Okay, my dad did not want me to say what I originally said, but explain what happened. It was boring in case you were wondering. My mouth was dry and I listened to music on the iPod. It took a while. There, did you enjoy the description? I hope you did, because it wasted my time.

Summer League Volleyball

Jillian is playing summer league volleyball on the RA Long team no. 3 (with all her freshman classmates). She is doing the setting, and tried jump setting, too.

Kelso Volleyball Camp

Bridget is attending the Kelso Volleyball Camp, with Cousin Rielee as one of the camp instructors. She is one of the most skilled 5th graders there.

Memorial Day

We attended the Memorial Day event at the Hubbard-Whittle Cemetery in Castle Rock, where Papa Ken held the flag for the American Legion.

Afterwards, we had BBQ burgers and fixings at the downtown Legion hall.

Farewell, Pastor Hagen

Pastor Hagen retired from Grace Lutheran today. We had a potluck to celebrate (and Bridget made pizza and cake to share there).

He's been the pastor for the past 4 years, and got the girls started on confirmation. We will miss him.

Flag Planting

The kids, joined by Adam, helped Papa Ken to place flags on the headstones of veterans at the Castle Rock cemetery. While working, Tor found a headstone with a birthdate of 1803. Wow!

Afterwards, we had dinner at Burgerville.

Golfing Season

Golf has returned! We were just waiting for the weather to finally turn nice enough. Tor had a nice couple rounds at the Mint Valley Par 3. He also got to break in his new club, a flop wedge, that Uncle Kevin gave him for Christmas.
