More Projects

Jillian finished her pajama bottoms in sewing class and wore them home.  She slept in them and even wanted to wear them to school since they were so comfortable.  When she finished her pants, at the same class they got to make a troll headband.  She then made a small one for her bunny out of a pipe cleaner.  Lots of fun in that sewing class.

Big Spider

 Tor was downstairs when he got very excited and he called for me to come look at the giant spider.  It was very large! 

This is as close as he would get.  The spider was trapped in the jar and couldn't escape.

A Box and Bunnies

 Bridget had spent a lot of time making drawings on her car plus putting in windows.  We were barnstorming ideas for wheels when I suggested a skate board. So when I looked she had put 2 small skateboards under it and she had Jillian and Tor pushing her around with their scooters.  Anna also loves her box between rides.

Bridget has slept with her bunny Winter all year.  So at the Easter party she had me put a candle on a brownie so everyone could sing Happy Birthday to Winter.  In her basket she got a new bunny that she named Spring and a small bunny named Summer, aptly named since it's yellow.  You can tell from the picture which bunny has been loved the most so far.

Easter

Easter Sunday started early for the kids, and stayed busy. When they woke up this morning, they ran out to find baskets full of goodies, then followed that with an egg hunt inside the house. After breakfast, we attended Easter service at Grace.

Our afternoon was spent in Castle Rock, visiting the Piercy cousins. The little kids had their own egg hunt, with Jillian being the oldest (and fastest) so she may need to join the older cousins soon. This was followed by the egg roll, and all the little kids got a prize. Finally, Jillian joined with Ava, Bridget joined with Mommy, and Tor partnered with Daddy in the egg toss. Tor and Bridget were able to catch the first one, but their next attempt made a mess.

The kids had a great time, not just playing the games, but also seeing all their cousins in one place.

Tor's 4-year Check-up

Mommy took Tor to see Dr. O'Neil for his 4- year check-up. He is continuing to grow within his range (about 50th percentile for height and weight). He also got a couple shots, to which he said "ouch!"

Pretty Eggs

The kids had their egg coloring tonight. They all did a nice job of taking their time, which meant only one broken egg this year.

Bunny Pillowcase

It's always a big moment when Jillian returns home from sewing lessons with one of her completed projects. She was very excited and proud of this bunny pillowcase she made.

Art Lesson

Bridget likes to draw and is pretty good at it, so she gave Tor some lessons, and he picked it up quick. After, she said "Maybe I should be an art teacher."

Tor's Trains

Tor decided today to play with his train sets.  We spent a lot of time putting them all together with all the different tracks, bridges, etc.  I guess this is the fun part, as when we were done putting it all together he decided it was more fun to pet Mocha instead of playing with the trains on the tracks.  He went on to Play-Doh. I think construction for him is the most fun.

Grannie's Birthday Party

We celebrated Grannie's birthday today. Bridget gave her (returned) a blanket she had borrowed and Jiillian made her a craft. Then the kids put on another fair for everyone.

Cold Beach

Cousin Adam and Auntie Greta joined us at the cabin, and we made a trip to the beach to visit our sand creation. It was cold and windy, so we stayed for only 15 minutes. But, the kids still wanted ice cream afterwards.

Dragonwood

The new favorite game of the girls to play is Dragonwood. It's a cards and dice game, and after playing once with the Daddy, the girls had it figured out and could play it by themselves.

Pool Time

Today was Astoria Pool day. The kids swam for over an hour, and Bridget went down the big red slide by herself for the first time (she loved it!)

Chillin' at the Library

It was cloudy and cool this morning, so we biked to the library. Jillian curled up in her usual spot with a book, Bridget found a friend to play with, and Tor checked out the fish bowl.

Fire Pit

It stayed nice out, so it was time for cooking hot dogs and s'mores at the fire pit. We've got a happy crew here, partly because they're deliriously tired.

Sand House

Each kid got their own room in the "sand house". Jillian had a sofa that seated three (to entertain guests), Bridget had a small bed to curl up in, and Tor had a playroom. Daddy did the digging, with some help from Bridget, while Jillian dug and spread out warm sand to keep the seats and bed dry. Tor busied himself with battling the Sith.

More Sun

Woke up to another beautiful sunny day at the beach. We let it warm up a bit, then biked to the playground. Here's the kids enjoying the warm artificial turf.

Little Bike Trip

It was still nice out, so the kids went for a bike ride with Daddy while Mommy had some quiet time. We went to the playground first, where they played a superhero and villain game. Then, we biked to the end of Park Ave and back. Tor rides well enough that he can do it all on his own. He just needs some encouragement, since his little bike can't quite keep up with the girls.

Post-beach Ice Cream

No trip to the beach is complete without ice cream afterwards. They all chose the usual - cotton candy.

Sunny Beach

It's been awhile since we had a nice, sunny trip to the beach, so the kids had a good amount of play time in the sand. We also got a couple kites up into the steady wind, including Tor's new airplane kite that he got for his birthday.

Bowling at Adelaides

It's our spring break trip to the beach cabin, and we woke up to sunny skies, so we biked to coffee and hot chocolate. Here's the kids at Adelaide's, trying their hand at the mini table bowling.

Spring Break Start

 Since school was dismissed early for Spring Break, Jillian, Bridget, and Tor got busy playing outside on such a beautiful day.  I couldn't believe it when they said they wanted the sandbox uncovered since they are all headed to the beach for Spring Break and all that sand.  Maybe that's why?

 After a couple hours outside they came in for a break and decorated paper eggs and then painted boxes they had found at the fabric store.  Jillian and Bridget painted so carefully but Tor went for the modern art look so he could use all the colors.

When Daddy came later it was back outside.  They were all busy making a city to ride their bikes around that even included a jail in the dog kennel.  It was all a great way to start Spring Break!
