Dinner and a Walk

We had our favorite dinner tonight -- make-your-own pizzas.

Mommy wanted the kids to expend their remaining energy (of which they've had alot on this trip), so we went for an early evening walk through town before show and bed.

Lots of Beach Time

The beach was sunny and warm with hardly any wind, so we were able to stay there for several hours. Daddy dug a deep hole to water, and Tor had a hard time getting out initially.

The girls went to the ocean to fill their buckets, and found out the water was really cold (though Jillian insisted she could body board in it).

Afterwards, we had ice cream using Papa Ken's donation, and Bridget ordered sherbet just like her Papa.

Bike Adventure

A beautiful morning at the beach ... even better than yesterday, so we went on a long bike ride to Nahcotta.

Per tradition, the kids threw (and skipped) oyster shells into the bay in back of Bailey's Bakery.

Then, we went inside and ate some fresh-baked cookies.

We biked over to the park for some playground activities and another boys vs. girls football game.

Cool Campfire

Even though the sun was out and we were next to the fire pit, it was still a bit cold. We had hot dogs for dinner (each kid ate 2, even Tor! ...

and s'mores for treat (Tor doesn't like s'mores ... he only eats the chocolate).

Afterwards, the girls played their game of towing Bridget's Our Generation doll around on a body board ... with Tor pestering them (here he his gathering up pine cones and throwing them at the girls), which led to some chasing.

A Visit from Papa Ken and Bev

Papa Ken and Bev stopped by for a bit to visit. They joined in some foursquare games with the kids.

Quick Beach Visit

It was just sunny enough to keep it kind of warm at the beach (but the wind was chilly). The kids spent their time playing in the pits that Daddy dug ... they called it their bakery and bedrooms.

Of course, part of the motivation for wanting to go to the beach is the ice cream at Adelaide's afterwards.

Resting at the Library

After an intense football game, we relaxed at the library. The kids did some reading, but mostly just played in the kid area.

The Football Game

No trip to the park is complete without a football game with the rainbow football. It was boys vs girls, and we didn't keep score to avoid the possible tears (from Tor). The game ended when Mommy and Daddy got tired.

Bike Trip to the Park

The weather forecast is for rain, so we are making sure to get outside lots now. We rode bikes to the park, and got a workout on the monkey bars (Tor is now skipping bars, and Jillian is almost too long for them), while Bridget brought her doll along.

Beach Trip, Day 2 (Early AM)

The kids must have been really excited, because they all woke up before 7 am. They watched Archie's Weird Mysteries until their parents were ready to get up. It was really sunny out (but chilly), so the kids spent the morning outside.

Three-sized Bed

Now that we bring the new inflatable queen-sized bed to the beach, all three kids can now sleep together in the small downstairs landing. The girls typically read for a while ... Tor just falls asleep.

Spring Break, Day 1 (kind of)

We took off for our long Spring Break beach trip right after school got out. After dinner at Buoy Beer (the kids played with modeling clay while waiting for their food) ...

and dessert at Frite & Scoop (the girls discovered the Sweet Cream flavor, their new favorite) ...

we arrived at the cabin at 7:30 pm ... just enough time for a little outdoor play. The kids wound down with some Archie's Weird Mysteries shows.

Ty's Home

Jillian, Bridget, and Tor got to come play after school since Ty was only going to be here for a few days. Tor was so excited that he kept running up to Aunt Julie's to see if Ty and Brock were coming to play basketball with him. They were watching March Madness basketball so he had to sit and watch basketball with them. Finally they came to play and Ty saw the Hoverboard and had Jillian give him a lesson. He did pretty good, but not as expert as the little ones are now. Then finally the games got underway. This time it was Ty, Brock, Tor, Cale, Erika, and Jillian. Tierney came later to join in games. Bridget got to just keep score as there were an equal number. Since Spring Break started the next day they got to stay up until dark. (Couldn't get good pics in the dim light of the game.)

Cousin Fun

Brock and Kayleigh's brother Riley came down to play basketball with Tor. Here Tor is throwing up a high pass to Brock to dunk the ball on the lowered rim.

 In a short time Kayleigh came down too, and then they could play basketball 3 on 3. Bridget wanted to bow out but Brock told her she had to play, so she was a good sport about getting serious in the game.

 It got pretty competitive as you can see Bridget blocking out Tor while Jillian makes a break for the basket.

 Here Tor is doing some serious guarding of Riley. They played hard for quite awhile and Tor was getting pretty red in the face from guarding everyone.

 Of course, after each score Bridget would need to keep track of who was ahead.

 Cale and Erika brought their Spike-It game down and Cale is explaining the rules for everyone. After they all played that for awhile, they all went back to a basketball game with everyone including Cale, Ericka and Tierney. That was another very competitive game as it was the girls against the guys.

Jillian, Bridget and Tor didn't want to come in to get ready for bed as the big kids played until pitch dark, but it wasn't any trouble for the little ones getting right to sleep after all that activity.

CR Carnival

It's become an annual tradition for us to meet up with Grannie and Papa at the Castle Rock Carnival. The kids spent all their tickets in short order, and won a few prizes, and lots of candy. Bridget was the lone winner of the cake walk.

Climbing Wall

Tor let me know that he had made it up the climbing wall so I had to get my camera to record it. He went up pretty easy this time.

 Here he is making it to the top but not done yet.

 They have to climb over the top and reach for the bell to ring it to complete the climb. This is the climbing wall that Rick built for the cousins years ago Tor is also able this year to reach the zip line and launch himself but he usually gets stuck before he makes it to the other side and drops into the net.
