Halloween 2021

Here's the kids' costumes this season. Jillian is Hermione from Harry Potter, Bridget is Sarah Sanderson (a witch from Hocus Pocus), and Tor is reusing his dinosaur outfit from last year.

Basketball and Cupcakes

The kids stayed here while Rick and Heather celebrated their anniversary, and there was a lot of basketball since the weather was sunny. Bridget got creative cleaning up the cedar debris. She skated around on her rip-stick and swept at the same time, very efficient!  

Meanwhile with basketball coming they spent a lot of time on very competitive games. Jillian did do a lot of volleyball practice too, with club coming up. Friday night they didn't come in until way after dark!

Then there were the Halloween cupcakes to make and decorate. They spent a lot of time being creative on their designs. I think every cupcake was different.

Meanwhile Tor was occupied building pyramids with the extra cupcake papers. This one took him awhile.

Bridget's End of Soccer Season

Bridget played her final soccer game of the season today. She really enjoyed playing with her teammates, regardless of the game scores. Her team celebrated the end of season at Pie@trio's. She got her soccer ball signed by her teammates.

Her coach awarded her the "Best Midfielder Award".

Tor's End of Soccer Season

Tor had his last soccer game of the season today on a sunny, warm day. His team won, and Tor scored twice, while enduring some very rough fouls. The team celebrated with a backyard BBQ, where the coach had some very nice things to say about Tor, mentioning his high skill level and dribbling abilities.

15 Years of Bliss

Rick and Heather celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary this fall by returning to where they celebrated their 1st anniversary: the Bavarian village at Leavenworth. This time, we stayed at the Bavarian Lodge just across from the city center, enjoying a very comfortable room and hours of old home videos for nostalgia.

The weather was clear and sunny, allowing us to spend all day Friday browsing through the shops. We especially enjoyed the Cheesemonger shop, the Bavarian Bakery, and of course, Kris Kringle, where Heather picked up another Mueller Pyramid decoration for Christmas. Our evening was spent at Mozart's Steakhouse for a delicious (and expensive) dinner.

Book Character Dress-up

It was Spirit Week at Olympic Elementary, and Friday was dress-up as your favorite book character. Bridget chose Katniss from the Hunger Games series (which she just finished), and Tor chose Henry Hecklebeck from books of the same name.

This is Bridget. I have a note to make about Dads bad editorship. I was Tris, from the Divergent series. Although I did recently finish the hunger games, I was not Katniss. My friend Alicia was Katniss. Also, I wonder if anyone ever noted that, above, I LOOK NOTHING LIKE KATNISS AT ALL!!! 

Pumpkin Carving Party

Heather and the kids went to Hal and Grandma Cindy's house to celebrate Lindsey's birthday, and to carve their pumpkins.

They all came up with their own designs, and the girls did all their own carving. Tor got a little help on some details.

New Deck

It was a gray, rainy day, and Bridget came up with the idea to sit out on the new Trex deck in the backyard, cuddled up in a bean bag and blankets, and read books. Jillian and Tor joined her.

Swords

This reminded me of Cale, Ty, and Brock when they did their pretend fighting with swords. Bridget and Tor made swords out of the bush Tor is standing on and the old leaves of a Hosta plant. They did a lot of sword play in the yard with Jillian getting involved now and then. It was finally a nice day to play outside!

Most Valuable Mustang

At the end of season volleyball ceremony, Jillian was awarded the "Most Valuable Mustang". She earned it, working hard, setting a good example, and being positive and encouraging with her teammates throughout the season.

Jillian's 8th grade Middle School Volleyball season came to an end tonight against Mt Solo. Here's a pic of two Mustang Volleyball alumni:

Along with a bunch of pics of the action. They came up short but played well. Jillian had lots of nice sets to the hitters throughout the game

And she had her own cheering section, too.

Will & Kalyn's Wedding

Our Saturday night was spent at Will & Kalyn's Wedding in Canby.

It was good time hanging with family, eating lots of tasty food, and dancing the night away (and Tor managed to attract a crowd around him again to watch his moves). Plus, the kids got some quality Josie Jean time.

Fun Again

It's been too long since the cousins got together, with all the tournaments and games going on during the weekends, so it was a treat to see them. They had Tor doing a wind-up pitch so Harper could practice hitting. Most of the time, Jillian and Bridget were the catchers.

For the picture, they were supposed to show their scary faces under Bob's Halloween decorations. They were kinda scary....

But a cute one when being serious and smiling!

 

Friday Night Lights

One of the kids' favorite Friday night activities is to walk over to Memorial Stadium to watch a little football (usually the Jacks) from outside the fence (not going to pay for less than 30 minutes of action). This time, they brought a football and volleyball to play with.

Pumpkins in Stock

We went to Safeway as soon as we saw that they had pumpkins in stock, so we could kick off with decorating a fall theme.
