Quick Beach Trip

It was a short stay at the beach cabin. We pretty much did all of the usual things. It was sunny, so there was some outdoor play, but chilly, so we were indoors alot, too. Here's a gallery of random pics of the trip:

Diversity Night

Olympic held a diversity fair in the gym on Thursday night, showing off some work that the kids had done for several countries. There were also lots of activities: the kids got to write their names in hieroglyphics, and have their names written in Japanese.

Egg Roll and Egg Toss

The kids did better than Mommy and Daddy in the egg roll.

Unfortunately, it didn't go so well in the egg toss. We were all out by the second round.

The Big Egg Hunt

Time to see and hang out with all the cousins on the Piercy-side of the family at the annual Easter Party at Grannie and Papa' house.

There were a lot of eggs to find! Bridget was complaining about how heavy her bag was with all the eggs, and the girls stopped early before all the eggs were found ... Tor kept going, though.

When it was time for the big kid egg hunt, the little kids were the judges of the craft project, and they chose the "Hawaii" themed one.

Easter Sunday Service

When we enter the church, the first thing to do is place flowers on the cross at the altar. For Sunday School, the kids got an extra special treat ... an egg hunt (first time for that).

Morning Egg Hunt

As soon as everyone was up in the morning (mostly, the girls waited patiently for Tor to rouse himself up), the kids ran out of their rooms to hunt for eggs in the family room. It didn't take long. Then, they checked out the Easter baskets left for them on the dining table. They each had a few candies to start their morning.

Night before Easter

We celebrated Bev's birthday with an outdoor cookout in Papa Ken and Bev's backyard. The cousins got lots of playtime together, including hide-and-seek, UNO and whatever random game they could think up.

Tractor Show

Tor and cousin Adam joined Papa Ken at a tractor show in Centralia. Cousin Andy showed up a bit later, and they all enjoyed browsing around together.

Going Outdoors

Grannie said that if the kids weren't going to ride the battery-operated vehicles, she would put them in the garage sale. Tor and Bridget didn't want that, so they got to work cleaning them off and ready to use.

Tor loves gardening, so Grannie made a small plot for him to plant vegetables. He started with a small row of carrots (which he likes to eat raw, amazingly!)

It was nice enough to finally eat dinner outside.

Colorful Eggs

Mommy took the kids shopping to pick out their egg coloring kits: Jillian chose "marbled", Bridget went with "mermaids", and Tor picked "foil". The eggs looked pretty good, although Tor's foil kit was very time-intensive, so he just grabbed a marker and drew on the eggs. After we were all done, only about 3 eggs did not survive the decorating process ... not too bad.

Basketball and Photos

As soon as Tor gets here, the first thing he always does is go outside to shoot baskets. Here Papa is being his rebounder so he can just catch and shoot. Great form on his shot too.

It's Spring and everything is blooming. Jillian has always been able to get great close-up shots of flowers all around that I didn't even know or notice. She has a good eye for these shots and she takes loads of pictures. I download lots of pictures into her own folder so she can be creative with them.

 She took a good one of Tor climbing the magnolia tree.

Dancing

We picked up Jillian and Bridget after school to come play outside since it was finally a nicer day. (Tor wanted a Daddy night.) We stopped to try Carl Jrs. hand-dipped shakes and they only came in one size so they both got an oreo shake. Bridget finished hers-hungry after school. Jillian liked hers too, but didn't finish all of it.

Between showers Jillian and Bridget rode rip-sticks and did some dancing to the speaker outside. Darn, I didn't get any of them together but Papa took some video of Bridget dancing so I took some screen shots off that. She has some pretty good moves!

They got to sleep in the living room but had to put up with Grannie and Papa watching the Mariners lose at about 10:30. Saturday was mostly a craft day before they had to go home.

Boys Night Surprise

Tor wanted to have a surprise boys night with Daddy, so we headed off to Wendy's for a kids meal. Here is Tor showing how he wipes his face the "proper" way.

Then, we had dessert at Sweet Spot. He didn't even bother with the sample cups ... he just went straight to making his treat.

Our special prize for the night was going to GameStop and picking up a new Switch game: Lego DC Supervillains. We played it for awhile, and Tor eventually got gamed-out, so he took a Lego-building break (the new houseboat he bought with his own money).

JAL Player

Jillian stayed overnight after Grannie's party, so she was here for the JAL start of the season tournament. JAL is a wiffle ball organization with 12 teams, run by Jillian's cousin Cale. She sat and watched for 3 games and then when one player didn't get there, she was asked to fill in. She played 2 games for the Bison. I think she surprised everyone by getting several hits but the pitchers did ease up on their hard throwing to her. She also played the field and stopped some ground balls. 

Grannie's 79th B-day Party

It was a Hawaiian themed party for Grannie, in anticipation of this summer's trip to the Big Island. The kids helped Aunt Lynne with some of the decorations, then played all of the games, doing pretty well.
