Olympic Carnival

The kids had a great time at this year's carnival. It was sunny and warm, and there were lots of people. They won tons of prizes from the games, as usual, with Bridget winning a treasure: a plug-in disco light, and Jillian even won a "mystery" basket in the raffle.

Playing with Adam

A beautiful evening and energetic kids meant a trip to the field to get some exercise. We played boys-vs-girls: keep-away with Tor's little dart football, and kickball. Not sure about the kids, but Mommy and Daddy were wiped out after all that running around.

Tor's 1st Lost Tooth

Tor woke up this morning at the beach, wiggling his loose tooth. We looked at it, and saw it was hanging by a thread. It wasn't moments later that he was calling to us, "My tooth came out!"

Outside Beach Time

Saturday was an inside day at the beach cabin, playing board games and watching shows. Sunday was nice and sunny, though, so we were outside all day. The Morgans joined us for some beach time.

Big Books

Bridget finished The Goblet of Fire, and has moved on to the next humongous book, The Order of the Phoenix.

A Chill Beach Trip

After a long school year, and after Daddy returned from Cispus, we all needed a break. The kids got to skip school on Friday, sleeping in, then packing up and leaving.

We swam (and soaked in the hot tub) for a long time at the Astoria Pool, had late lunch at Fort George, and ice cream at Frite & Scoop. The kids just relaxed with Jenga blocks before we watched the Iron Man movie. Jillian is now wanting to watch all of the superhero movies.

Mother's Day BBQ

We spent the afternoon at Grannie and Papa's house, having a hot dog BBQ to celebrate Mother's Day. It was a nice sunny day, though by evening we were huddled around the patio fire.

Mother's Day Morning

Mommy was joined by the kids in bed to have a donut breakfast (breakfast sandwich for Bridget). They all watched the traditional Popeye cartoons. It's getting pretty snug in the bed these days.

The kids then gave Mommy the gifts that they made for her.

Another Sleepover

The neighbor girls (Hazel and Ila) returned the favor and invited the kids for a sleepover at their grandparents place ... they were sleeping in their camper parked there. Tor was originally going to stay home and have a boys night with Daddy, but when he saw all the fun things to do, he said he "forgot" to tell me that he wanted to stay the night. Here's a pic of all of them on the trampoline, with a sprinkler spraying them from underneath (it was almost 90 degrees out).

Muffins with Mom

Mommy got to spend some time in Tor's Kindergarten class, celebrating Mother's Day with some muffins (and donuts). Tor also gave Mommy some art work that he made for her.

Tor's Kinder Field Trip

Tor went with his kindergarten class on a field trip to the Children's Theatre in Portland, to watch a play called The Worm Diaries. Mommy got to be the chaperone for Tor's group.

CR Farmers Market

We tried out the new Farmers Market in Castle Rock today. It was pretty small, but the kids found a couple plants to take home. They're growing some green thumbs lately.

Rummage and Plant Sale

We split our time all day between the Olympic PTO Rummage Sale, which Mommy helped set up and run ...

and the Plant Sale put on by our neighbors.

The girls were so excited to finally spend a lot of time with Hazel and Ila, that they plotted to have a sleepover. Here we are at Sweet Spot for a treat.

Nerf Gun Party

Last weekend, Tor went to his friend Gram's birthday party ... it was a Nerf Gun War with about ten kids running around, blasting each other. Tor was into it the entire time.

Tierney brought up this Lego set that was to make the Seahawk Logo but Tor had his own idea. He wanted to build a football stadium and it was quite elaborate. He had tiered seating, towers, field, and a scoreboard. Very creative.

Jillian and Bridget made May Day baskets and even Tor helped fill them with flowers. First they went to Aunt Julie's and she met them at the door so they didn't get to ring the doorbell and hide but she liked the thought. They also took baskets to Aunt Dianne and Aunt Vera.

 Here they are at Aunt Robin's house. They rang the doorbell and then ran around the corner of the house. Tierney answered the door and knew what was going on so she shouted "I see you over there." They thought it was great fun.

Later they got out the bubble guns for the first time this year and had many bubble battles. Tor kept doing it for a long time after the girls stopped. As I saw him coming inside I said "Let's clean up the bubble things." He told me he already did and when I looked outside, it was all put away in a bin neatly stored. Great job Tor! They are all getting very independent and helpful.
