Bridget was one of the winners of the 2023 Solutions to Storm Water Pollution Calendar Contest, and her artwork was featured for the July page.

Winter Dance

Bridget went to her first middle school dance tonight, wearing a blue dress with brown boots. Mom was there, too, helping out with the PTO. She took this photo of Bridget with her friends:

"It was fun. I actually didn't hang out with the people in the picture above . We just took a picture together. From left to right, Kayleigh, Rilee, me, Harmony, Audra. I had a lot of fun. It was boring, until they played Party in the USA and Cha Cha shuffle and they started a dance circle."

Basketball Finale

Tor played his final tournament basketball games with his fourth grade Longview Ballers team this afternoon in Kelso, winning both and the Consolation Championship. The final game went to double OT. Here's Tor with Coach Rick and teammates Bowen and Owen:

And just wanted to add one more photo. Tor's 4th grade teacher Ms. Clark came to watch a game on Saturday. Her comment was that she wanted his teammates to "clear out so Tor could take it to the hoop!"

Flying M Stables

Bridget made a trip with Aunt Dany to Olympia on Saturday to ride Gracie in a show. She typically placed either 1st or 2nd in every class, and ended up tied for 2nd (Reserve) High Point Novice.

According to Bridget:

"Dad is making me write this right in the middle of a Harry Potter movie, so it's going to be quick. Anyways, the horse show was fun. I got to do some judges command classes, and Gracie was really good all day. :⁠-⁠D"

Jillian received some more nice coverage in TDN. Here's an excerpt from the article regarding the Washougal game:

So far, Ott is pleased with what he’s seen from players like freshman Jillian Woodruff, who finished with two points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists against Washougal. It’s that sort of experience and steady improvement that keeps a coach coming back to blow the whistle, even when there’s growing pains along the way.

“Jillian Woodruff has really stepped up and taken some good minutes. She’s kind of been our sixth player off the bench and today she got the start,” he said. “She’ll usually come in and give us a spark off the bench but today it threw her off a little bit being a starter. It’s a little different.”

High Point Novice

Bridget just found out that she won High Point Novice at the January Winter Woolies! (With thanks to Grandma Cindy keeping track of points throughout both days, to help the judges verify the totals).

This is awarded to the rider that earns the most / highest placings in both English and Western. Winning High Point has long been one of Bridget's goals, so she's thrilled to have accomplished it.

Bronze Division Champions

Jillian's volleyball team LC Elite 16 Black won the Bronze Division of the MLK Jr Invitational in Tacoma. After a strong Saturday and a struggling Sunday, the girls came out and played their best volleyball on Monday, winning t-shirts after the championship match.

They treated themselves to some Dairy Queen Blizzards at the end of the day.
