Drawing and Trike Riding

 What a nice day and they were so happy to be outside.  They drew so many pictures.  This one Bridget drew is a apartment building with an elevator and pool.

 Tor spent a lot of time drawing who knows?  He did and tried to tell me.  Here he is drawing with his right hand.

 He still switches hands all the time and he finished up his picture left-handed.  I think it's an animal.

 In the morning I pushed Tor around on his trike and pretty soon he had the hang of pedaling.  Then after his nap he really got into it to show Jillian what he could do.  He went really fast in circles and even learned to rock back and forth to get the pedals in the right position to go forward.  He was really excited to tell Daddy.

Both Bridget and Jillian had to take turns on the trike to relive their early years before bikes.

Trick-or-Treaters

The kids finally got to dress up for trick-or-treating last night. Jillian was Spider-girl, Bridget was an angel, and Tor was Spider-man. We started off by making some Longview visits with cousin Adam (as a SWAT agent) and Auntie Greta, including going to Papa Ken's house and Grandma Cindy's house. We also made a short tour of the Lilac Street neighborhood. Thankfully, the rain was starting to taper off from the deluge earlier in the day. Afterwards, we made a stop at the Calvary Community Church fall festival for dinner, games and more treats. Then, we finished with a visit to the Castle Rock houses and some wind-down time at Grannie and Papa Bob's house.

Not Halloween Party

 Jillian got to dress up in her favorite book character "Bad Kitty" for school.  I teased her about being sent to the principal if she acts like "Bad Kitty".  She also has a tail that you can't see.

Tor wanted a picture too, so Jillian and Bridget had to jump in the picture with Tor.

Humphrey the Hampster

We just finished reading The World According to Humphrey for Olympic Elementary's One School, One Book event. The school hosted an open house featuring things to do with Humphrey, including getting a picture with a giant hampster.

Little Carvers

It was pumpkin carving night, and the kids couldn't wait to finally get their pumpkins ready. They spent a lot of time drawing the faces, wanting them just right. Then Daddy cut off the tops and had the kids pull out the "guts". Jillian and Bridget dug right in and pulled everything out, hardly making a peep about how it felt. Tor, on the other hand, refused to put his hand in his pumpkin or to even try touching the guts. He preferred to just watch. When they were all carved up, the kids were very proud of their creations.

New Pumpkin Patch

We drove out to our traditional pumpkin patch in Willow Grove last weekend, and found no pumpkins ... it stopped operating. We were pretty disappointed, and began searching for a new patch. We heard about one on Hazel Dell Road, so we checked it out on Saturday. Come to find out, it was run by the Schwinn family, so we got to vist for a while. We got a hayride to the patch across Delameter Creek, and found lots of pumpkins, most of them really big. Bridget found hers quick, but it took Jillian a while. Tor chose the smallest pumpkin ever (we got him a different one for carving).

Tree Fun

 Jillian and Bridget found this old tree to play in.  They loved the soft moss and Bridget liked it also since it was easy to climb.  They were fascinated with all the holes that went in rings around the old tree and thought it was cool that a woodpecker did that.

 Jillian said this tree would make a nice bed to sleep in.

They also worked a long time on making hiding places in this pile of limbs they found.  They found soft leaves that they put inside to lay on.  It was getting dark before I got them to come in.
