It was a packed house on Wednesday night with all of the great-grandkids in attendance for Papa Bob and Tierney’s birthday party.
The little ones kept Tor busy all night, demanding his attention. Dad walked into the computer room and found him hanging out with 4 of them. Once Grant and Jo are more mobile, it will be all 6 at once:
Tor (#4) played his first football game of the fall season with his Monticello Mustangs 8th grade team against Hockinson. He is on the kickoff team, and is a backup free safety on defense and a backup slot receiver on offense:

The Mustangs won 36-12. It was a beautiful, sunny day for the game. Tor said his legs were sore afterwards:

The R.A. Long volleyball team is still searching for its first win after a pair of early non-league contests. The Lumberjills lost in five sets at W.F. West in their season-opener last Wednesday before being swept at home by Kalama on Thursday.
“Despite the 3-0 sweep, it was a highly competitive, back-and-forth match,” first-year RAL head coach Maya White said after falling to the Chinooks.
Bridget Woodruff led the Jills with 10 kills and seven blocks against Kalama, while Hailey Simon-Felix turned in 10 assists. Becca Montgomery added three kills and four blocks for R.A. Long.
The Jills were even more competitive in Chehalis in their season debut, winning the opening set in extra points before fading late. R.A. Long fell by scores of 24-26, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 and 15-9.
Bridget Woodruff posted a team-high 15 kills to go with five blocks in the Mint City. Erica Espinoza added 13 digs to go with a half dozen kills for the Jills, and Hailey Brewer led the RAL defense with 16 digs.
R.A. Long (0-2) will play at Black Hills on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Lumberjills will open 2A GSHL play next Tuesday at Woodland.

Uncle Dan and Aunt by Robin invited us to join them and family in a private luxury suite at the Mariners game today against the A’s. It was quite the experience! Great view, comfy seats, lots of space, easy access to water and snacks and bathrooms:

Jillian couldn’t join us, as she was doing volunteer work with her Olympic team at a sporting event (she worked VIP security). But, Tor invited school friend and teammate Ryan along. Uncle Dan took them to the team shop, and they picked up some jerseys:
We all got lots of quality Wrigley time, as she took us (mostly Bridget) for walks in the hallway.
Papa Bob and Grannie gave Dad a ride in their Tesla up to Olympic College to pick up the Hyundai from Jillian. Papa Bob had the Tesla in autopilot nearly the whole way. Once we got there, Jillian gave us a tour of her dorm, followed by a tour of the campus.
Bridget and her RA Long volleyball team had their first home match at the Lumberdome against Kalama tonight. Family showed up in force to cheer her on, including Grannie and Papa Bob:
Little cousin Wrigley was also there, watching a little bit of volleyball. She really like the end of the match when she could roam the court:
They fell 0-3, but Bridget led the team with her hitting and blocking. She also got some time in the back row in the third set and served and passed well:
Bridget started her second varsity season with RA Long High School volleyball team at the Mark Morris Jamboree tonight. She is currently a middle blocker.
