On to State!

Jillian and her 4x100 meter relay team are headed to the state championship track meet next weekend at Mt. Tahoma, after placing 4th at the district championship in Tumwater this evening. It was a close race, beating out Hockinson for the final invite by 0.02 seconds. Mom said Jillian ran a great first leg, giving her team the early lead. She also earned a medal:

Mother's Day

 

It was a fun Mother's Day outside having delicious hot dogs, cooked on the grill, and smores on the campfire. All organized by Rick's family, following a tradition of cooking hot dogs on Mother's Day long ago when we were over the hill splitting wood and needed to finish that day. So when it got late, Rick went to get hot dogs and we built a fire where we were working until it got dark. Memories and traditions! Now there are all the family, grandkids, and great grandkids. Breakfast in Bed

It took a little while to get the kids into Mom's bed for Mother's Day, but the lure of donuts did the trick. They also got to snack on apple slices and sausage patties, all while watching the traditional Popeye shows: Sinbad, and Alibaba & the Forty Thieves.

Bubbles with Kenny & Rory

Wednesday with the little Johnson girls. It started with a little dance party to Alexa toddler tunes, then a quick breakfast. It was so nice outside, we were able to do bubbles. We gave the wand to Kenny to blow bubbles, and she promptly stuck it in her mouth (yuk!)

The rest of the day was power naps, lunch, Coco-Melon, and walking outside.

4-H Qualifying Horse Show

Bridget participated in her first Clark County 4-H horse show with her new club, the Royal Riders, on Saturday. It was a First Chance Qualifying Performance Show, to be able to go to the State Fair in September. Bridget did very well, earning blue ribbons in every class, along with a red in bareback (something she's hardly ever done). This pic shows her riding Handsome in the trail riding class:

16's Regionals - Day 2

The team played for the Flight 1 Silver Division Championship on Sunday, winning the first match convincingly, but dropping a close second match against NPJ. They ended the season tied for 11th overall in the 16's division. Here's Jillian with teammates Brooke and Macy:

16's Regionals - Day 1

It was a rough start for Jillian's Cowlitz 16 Black volleyball team at the Regional Championship at the Portland Expo Center, dropping the first couple matches before coming back to win one and place third in pool play.

In that close win vs Athena, the match ended with Jillian doing a one-handed reverse dump at the net. Very exciting! (This video was taken by another parent and sent to us):

Unfortunately, they dropped the crossover match against a tough COVC team to end the day.
