Costume Shopping (Spoiler Alert!)

It seemed like today was as good as any to go to Spirit Halloween to find costumes this year. Though there was some indecision, it really didn't take to long. They all tried on their costumes at home ... and we all had a good laugh.

Aunt Lynne, Aunt Robin and Uncle Dan's B-day Party

Aunt Lynne turned 60 (and Aunt Robin will next year)! We celebrated in CR with chili, Subway, pie, brownies and ice cream. The girls made some nice cards for the occasion, and also helped with setup and takedown.

Tor spent his time catching the football with cousin Ty, running routes and utilizing "Brock's Hill" to break free of the defense.

Orthodontist Appointment

Jillian went to see an orthodontist (Dr. Draper) for an initial screening, on recommendation of her dentist (Dr. Pond). First, they went to a room for pictures of her teeth, along with x-rays. Then, they talked about options for braces, followed by an extensive examination.

So, it looks like Sweetie Pie will be getting braces in a couple weeks, to wear for 1-1/2 to 2 years. She is so NOT excited!

Fall

This is another tree that they use for their play fort games. This one has lots of branches to swing on and climb or relax like Tor on a branch.

Julie got a new dog Bella and Tor wanted to be part owner so he gives Bella a lot of hugs and attention which Bella loves.

Later, Jillian and Bridget decorated the driveway. They wrote a giant Happy Halloween and then Bridget put a witch flying through the letters, plus other decorations. Kinda sad that the rain will take it away after all their creativity.

 

Beach Get-away

It was time for a quick beach trip, since it had been nearly 2 months. Due to popular kids' demand, we ate at Buoy Beer on the way. Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day, so we spent several hours at the beach. Time was split between destroying sand castles with sand ball projectiles, and climbing the grassy dunes:

The nice weather continued, so we made our biking trip to the "park" (school playground):

... where the kids competed in an American Ninja Warrior obstacle course, with the person out being the play-by-play announcer (Jillian, in this pic). Tor dominated this game, but was pretty upset to then lose the football game to the girls.

Sunday was opposite - pouring down rain all day, so we stayed inside and played card and board games.

On the way home was one final treat - ice cream at Frite and Scoop.

Aunt Dany's B-day Party

We headed out to Grandma Cindy and Hal's place to celebrate Aunt Dany. After a taco dinner, the kids had their fill of cake and ice cream. As always, Tor helped with the blowing out of candles (and taking some licks of frosting).

Grandma Cindy pulled out a unicycle, and Jillian worked hard on learning how to ride it, with Bridget's help.

Meanwhile, Tor was busy regaling the ladies with stories of what he would do when he's a dad ...

Cousin Time

The first thing Saturday was to meet Ava and Harper at the Pumpkin Patch at CRHS put on by the FFA. They gave them treat bags with the cutest painted rocks plus goodies in them. Then they got to pick out a pumpkin. It was great fun doing it with their cousins. Then they got to go to Aunt's to have a firepit lunch and play . Then they all got to come here to play outside the whole time.

Jillian, Bridget, and Tor made up a game to play at the Play Fort. It involved making a circuit without touching the ground while being chased and you won by going up the climbing wall to ring the bell to win before being caught. 

Sunday when the twins came to play, they did this same game with them. Lots of good excercise!

Later, taking a break, Tor started a pumpkin project. He painted the inside of this plastic pumpkin black. It took him awhile as there was a football game on, so it ended up getting painted between commercials.
